The Big News

The secret is out!

Starting Monday, December 12, I am the new marketing manager for Zenescope Entertainment. I am very excited to be joining their ranks.
Research for Work

A little about Zenescope (taken directly from the website):

Founded in 2005 by Philly natives Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco, Zenescope Entertainment is quickly becoming one of the most recognized independent comic book and graphic novel publishers in the world. Their flagship title GRIMM FAIRY TALES, which is also written by Joe and Ralph, immediately found a strong audience and has certainly surpassed the expectations set by many industry insiders. At already more than 22 issues on shelves or in post production GRIMM is one of the longest running independent comic book series on the market today. Furthermore, the GRIMM FAIRY TALES Volume 1 Trade Paperback sold out of its 10,000 copy print run in just over a year, prompting a 2nd printing of the book while Volume 2 has sold close to 6,000 copies in less than 3 months. These are staggering numbers for an independent graphic novel.
So far, this my favorite series from Zenescope
Zenescope is the opportunity I thought I gave up looking for. When we decided to move to PA from CT, I was making the decisions to support my wife and move so we could be closer to her family. Though I did dream to join the Marketing/PR for an entertainment company, I know there was not very much in that area. In the end, moving to PA is exactly what was needed for me to find a position in this field. This is what I started my blog for over a year and a half ago on MYIGN. I have put in just as much personal focus on freelance journalism as I had my previous jobs. Now, I am finally able to bring my strong work ethic together with my passion for this industry by taking on this position. Since accepting the position, my mind has been racing with ideas.
Zenescope has some amazing artists
2011 marked my first year at a convention, but I have been quite used to the experience of manning a booth due to my years as an admissions counselor. I was able to exhibit at Pax East 2011 for Sacred Heart University, as well as cover the games at the event for XBLAFans.com. It was a very challenging experience, having to juggle both responsibilities, but was incredibly exciting. 2011 also saw me covering E3 for KmartGamer, thanks to their contest. E3 is the pinnacle of gaming events and totally lived up to my expectations. I even got to attend New York Comic Con for XBLA coverage and to network for my previous job. The experience was just as good. There were lots of fans, tons of cosplayers, and a convention center full of stuff that interests me.
For Zenescope, one of my major responsibilities will be these events. As a blogger an self-branded journalist, it can be hard to drum up interest in yourself. Now, I will be championing an excellent company, with a product I believe in, to an audience I know very well, because I am a part of it. I'm sure you'll be hearing much more from me about the coolness oozing out of Zenescope, and I can't wait to share more. Thank you again for all of your support and kind words. Not every community is as supportive and caring as  you guys. That is all for now.
So, go check out the company I'll be working for!

  2. Stephen, Congratulations on what sounds to be an awesome job! I found you via Raven's twitter post welcoming you to the team. As a blogger, I'm wondering if the new marketing manager might be willing to work with other bloggers on things such as reviews and giveaways? Just thought I'd put a little bug in your ear. ;) Please feel free to contact me. Either way, I'm always happy to find a new blog!

I believe I will be a good contact person for you when it comes to reviews and such but, as I am just getting my feet wet, It may be some time before I really know what I'll be able to do. Please keep in contact with me as well and I'll be sure to do what I can.
